Parantake Upre Nao launched

Writer-translator Anisuz Zaman’s translated work titled Parantake Upre Nao was launched at an event held at the Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum recently.

The novel is a Bangla translation of Mexican author Angeles Mastretta’s Arráncame la vida, which was published in 1985.

Parantake Upre Nao has been published under the banner of Kathaprokash.

Bangla Academy director general Mohammad Nurul Huda was present as chief guest while poet-essayist and translator Razu Alauddin was present as discussant at the event, which was presided over by veteran writer-translator Khaliquzzman Elias.

Mohammad Nurul Huda said, ‘I have read Anisuz Zaman’s earlier translation works. I hope readers will enjoy Parantake Upre Nao.’

Anisuz Zaman said, ‘Many people in Bangladesh might not be familiar with the work of Angeles Mastretta. When I was translating Nihsangatar Eksha Bachhar, my wife gifted me Mastretta’s novel. After I read it, I decided to translate it into Bangla. I hope readers will enjoy the novel.’

Razu Alauddin said, ‘Anisuz Zaman has already made a name for himself by translating literary works from Spanish into Bangla. We get a glimpse into the socio-political situation after the Mexican Revolution from a woman’s point of view in the work of Angeles Mastretta. I am hopeful about the success of Anisuz Zaman’s new work.’

Khaliquzzman Elias said, ‘Everyone has felt the need for translation in all ages in all countries. Without translation, the progress of civilisation would not have been possible, and one civilisation would not have known about another civilisation. I hope the book will gain readership.’

Anisuz Zaman’s earlier translated works are, namely Nihsangatar Eksha Bachhar, Kuyo and Gabor Deshe, Gabor Pore.
